TMB Obtain ISO 9001 & ISO 27001 Certified Status

iso 9001 and iso 27001 certification

2022 has shaped out to be a busy year for TMB, and two of the achievements we are most proud of are obtaining our certifications for the ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 27001 (Information Security Management) quality standards.

What Is ISO 9001 And Why Does It Matter?

ISO 9001 is an internationally recognised quality management system that provides guidance for businesses to follow to improve their overall operations. The standard outlines a set of requirements that organisations must meet in order to be certified. Once certified (by means of an independent audit), businesses can use the ISO 9001 logo to show their commitment to quality and continual improvement across all of their business processes.

Neither ISO 9001, nor 27001, relate to specific products or services and are not ‘accreditations’ as such. Rather, they reflect the way a business model operates and how it incorporates quality management standards at every level of service delivery.

The benefits of working with an ISO 9001 certified IT managed service provider, therefore, include:

  • Improved efficiency and effectiveness
  • Increased customer satisfaction
  • Enhanced competitiveness
  • Reduced costs associated with waste and rework

What About ISO 27001?

ISO 27001 is the international standard that sets out the requirements and best practices for a high-quality information security management system (ISMS).

An ISMS is a framework of policies and procedures that helps organisations to manage their information security risks. The framework covers all aspects of information security, from physical security and data management to cyber security safeguards, and assesses the strength and validity of an organisation’s software, ISMS policies and procedures, IT hardware, and physical business premises.

Organisations that have been certified to ISO 27001 have demonstrated that they have an active and effective ISMS in place, and are committed to continual review and improvement.

Why Is ISO 27001 Important For An IT MSP?

ISO 27001 is important because it helps IT managed service providers to protect their information assets (and those of their customers) from security risks more effectively. Information assets include anything from customer data to confidential business information, and are a regular target for online criminals.

Security risks can come from many sources, including direct and intentional cyber-attacks, data breaches, and human error. By managing these risks effectively, ISO 27001-certified MSPs can reduce the likelihood of these operational hazards happening and minimise the impact for customers if they do occur.

The advantages of working with an ISO 27001 certified IT support partner include:

  • Improved security for your information assets
  • Reduced likelihood of security incidents and successful data breaches
  • Improved ability to respond to security incidents
  • Improved customer confidence
  • Compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for data security.
